We are so excited to be moving forward and we are looking forward to seeing your children on the courts and in the fields!
* Exciting New Changes! *
We have some exciting new changes beginning this Summer Season!
Due to COVID-19 we have rescheduled the Summer Season to begin in August. A Fall Season will quickly follow in October giving your child two opportunities to play sports this Fall!
Game locations for the Mesa, Queen Creek, Gilbert and Chandler divisions are currently TBD due to restrictions recently having been released. We will updated the website as we discuss further with the schools and solidify the locations.
New age divisions!
We have extended our older age divisions for basketball and football! An additional age division has enabled us to split the largest age group into two divisions.
Flag Football has been opened up to hold an Under 13 (11-12 year olds) and an Under 15 (13-14 year olds) division.
Basketball will now have an Under 12 (10-11 year olds) and an Under 14 (12-13 year olds) division.
We are excited about these new changes and hope that they will help to encourage a better team environment for your player!
Please keep in mind that this is the first year with these new divisions. There may be locations where we will need to merge the age divisions or locations if there is not enough interest in a particular area.
New registration process with team apps!
In order to better improve past issues with communication, we have partnered with Sports Engine for our registration and team management. This will allow all families to download an app that will enable teams to communicate effectively and will also allow you to access league information and alerts. There will be a small processing fee applied at checkout by Sports Engine.
Thank you for your support through this unprecedented time! We understand that this has been difficult for everyone and we appreciate your patience.
We are monitoring the COVID-19 situation and we do understand that many parents may have concerns!
We will be following some new protocols this season. We will adjust accordingly as the season approaches and we put a plan into place with the schools. We have your children's best interests in mind as we try to proceed!
Spring 2020 Credits
Every child that was registered for the Spring 2020 Season receieved a full credit for use in ANY future season in ANY year. You can also save this credit for another child in your family.
Your child will not be automatically enrolled in the next season that opens and you will need to reach out in order to have your child signed up with your applicable credit for the season of your choice.
We will see you out there!

We want to sincerely thank you all for your support through this unprecedented time! We understand that this has been difficult for everyone and we appreciate your patience!
Governor Ducey has given the green light for many businesses to re-open in Arizona!
As you are aware, we are dependent on the school districts in order to utilize their facilities for games. At this time, the school districts have not released an opening date of their facilities that would enable us to proceed with a sports season for the Summer of 2020.
However, plans are underway for Fall!
We are working closely with the schools to safely bring you two options and two sports seasons this Fall!
We hope to hold a late Summer session with tentative dates of August through September, following with a Fall Season, with tentative dates of October through December. We will release information as soon as it becomes available to us and emails will be sent as soon as registration for the Fall season is able to open.
We are closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation and have your children's best interests in mind as we try to proceed!
Credits have been applied to all players for the SPRING 2020 Season. Please keep in mind your child will not be automatically enrolled in the next season that opens and you will need to reach out in order to have your child signed up with your applicable credit for the season of your choice.

Hi AZYS families!
First off, I hope all is well with you and your children! I have enjoyed this extra time with my wife and seven kids. This time together has truly made us a stronger family.
Our intent has always been to follow what the school districts were doing. In that light, we sadly will be cancelling the 2020 Spring Season.
Every registered child will get a full credit for use in ANY future season in ANY year. You can also save this credit for other children in your family.
As a low-cost, non-profit organization, registration funds are fully used each season. Half of the money is spent prior to games starting (uniforms, equipment, insurance, facility rentals, marketing/advertising, office/storage rental, etc) and the other half pays for the in-season staff (referees, gameday staff, office staff, etc). All expenses for the season have already been paid and we have about 50% of the funds remaining. Future credits is the only feasible option.
If your child is aging out and cannot use a future credit, please contact us by replying to this email.
If the Governor lifts the quarantine/social-distance order, our plan is to move forward with Summer Season. Our kids need to get out and play! Not only is it good for their bodies, but also for their spirits and minds. The plan is for basketball, volleyball and some camps (ie. speed and agility, quarterback/receiver). We may offer baseball as we have had in the past if there is interest.
If the quarantine orders don't get lifted in time, we will see you in the fall for sure!
Also, you probably noticed that the www.azyouthsports.org website has moved over to sportsengine. This happened about two weeks ago. Unfortunately, during that time of transition our @azyouthsports.org email accounts weren't receiving emails. If you sent any emails to any @AZYouthSports.org email account from March 17-March 25 and didn't get a reply, please send it again. Our sincere apologies on this. All other email accounts were working perfectly (ie. @mesayouthsports.com, @gilbertyouthsports.org)
P.S. - We know that our economy will take time to recover. We will absolutely keep registration prices low so that every child can continue to participate in team sports.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR DIRECTOR:
Dear AZYS families,
Governor Doug Ducey has recently announced that school closures will extend through April 10, 2020. As you are aware, we are reliant on the schools and their schedule in order to have locations for our games. We have a few solutions as to how we will address the constant changes and information regarding COVID-19.
If school resumes as planned on April 13, Spring season games will run from April 18th through May 23rd with championship games on May 30th.
Our priority is the safety and health of our athletes. Please do not start practice until the week of the 10th. We will notify you when coaches are able to do so.
In the event of a cancellation:
In the event that school closures are extended even further by the governor, a cancellation of spring season may be necessary. If this does happen, your child’s registration will be credited for any future season (ie. summer, fall, winter).
Many have asked if everyone will be refunded in the event of a cancellation. The short answer is that as a non-profit corporation, there simply aren’t enough funds to do so.
With each season, about half of the registration money goes to pre-season expenses (jerseys, hats, equipment, player insurance, facility rentals, office rent, marketing, etc) and the remaining balance pays for the in-season expenses (referee payments, game-day staff, office staff, equipment replacement, etc.). All of the pre-season expenses have already been paid and we are unable to receive the money back for those expenses.
We will continue to provide updates as we receive them and we are hopeful that we will be able to provide our athletes with a fun season.
Office staff is available to answer texts and emails from 9:00am to 5:00pm Monday thru Friday. However, the office doors are closed and locked during this time.
Thank you for your continued patience and understanding during this truly unique and complex time our world is going through.
Dear AZYS families,
As you are aware there have been many safety concerns within the community regarding COVID-19 (coronavirus). Our top priority is the health and safety of our staff, players and families. Therefore, we have made the difficult decision to postpone our Spring 2020 Season. This includes practices, equipment pick ups, coaches clinic and games.
We anticipate the season to resume in April with games beginning on April 11th. Our organization will continue to actively monitor the situation closely and follow the lead of the school districts to keep you informed of any changes that may occur.
We are still determined to provide a fun and exciting season for our athletes and appreciate your support during this time!
