U6 DIVISION (ages 4-5)

General Rules:

  • Games will be officiated and run by the both coaches.
  • Halftime is one minute long
  • Coaches are allowed on the court
  • Games will be played full court with two 10-minute halves.
  • Each team will place 5 players on the court.
  • Game begins with a jump ball.
  • Rim height is 8ft
  • The official ball size 27.5″ but a 28.5” ball may be used in games if both coaches agree prior to tipoff
  • Teams bring their own game ball and warm-up balls
  • Teams warm up on the outside courts and must come prepared to start on time
  • No tournament for this division

Clock and Timeouts:

  • A running clock is used
  • Clock starts at scheduled start time and not at tipoff
  • Substitutions must be made during dead balls and take no longer than 30 seconds
  • Two timeouts per game
  • Timeouts during regular time are to be no longer than one minute and clock continues to run
  • Timeouts called during the last two minutes of the game are 30 seconds long and clock is stopped
  • Each team may only use one timeout during the last two minutes of the game.

Defense:

Illegal defenses:

  • No full or half-court presses.  After a team scores, they must immediately run down and set up for defense.
  • Only one player may defend the ball carrier.  Swarming the ball carrier is not permitted.
  • No stealing or swiping at the ball.  Ball carriers must be allowed to dribble the ball.
  • Defensive players may not swat the ball during a shot.
  • Deliberate physical contact to gain possession is prohibted - no elbowing, shoving or 'body checking' other players
  • No bear-hug defenses
  • No zone defense 

Accepted defenses:

  • Defenders may steal a pass after it has left the passers hands
  • Defend with the body and with arms extended straight up or out
  • Body shadowing a ball carrier is accepted to prevent the ball carrier from dribbling toward the basket.

 

U8 DIVISION (ages 6-7)

General Rules:

  • Games will be played full court with two 12-minute halves.
  • Halftime is one minute
  • Coaches are not allowed on the court
  • Each team will place 5 players on the court.
  • Game begins with a jump ball.
  • Rim height is 8 ft
  • The official ball size 27.5″ but a 28.5” ball may be used if that’s what both teams agree on prior to to tipoff.
  • Teams bring their own game ball and warm-up balls
  • Teams warm up on the outside courts and must come prepared to start on time
  • Double dribbling & traveling are not allowed.
  • Shots behind the 3pt line are counted as 3 points
  • No tournament for this division

Clock and timeouts:

  • A running clock is used
  • Clock starts at scheduled start time and not at tipoff
  • Substitutions must be made during dead balls and take no longer than 30 seconds
  • Two timeouts per game
  • Timeouts during regular time are to be no longer than one minute and clock continues to run
  • Timeouts called during the last two minutes of the game are 30 seconds long and clock is stopped
  • There is no overtime for tied games.

Defense:

Illegal defenses:

  • No full or half-court presses.  After a team scores, they must immediately run down and set up for defense.  
  • Only one player may defend the ball carrier.  Swarming the ball carrier is not permitted.
  • No zone defense.  Must be man-to-man
  • No stealing or swiping at the ball.  Ball carriers must be allowed to dribble the ball.
  • Defensive players may not swat the ball during a shot.
  • Deliberate physical contact to gain possession is prohibted - no elbowing, shoving or 'body checking' other players

Accepted defenses:

  • Man-to-man defense

U10 Division (ages 8-9)

General Rules:

  • Games will be played full court with two 14 minute halves.
  • Each team will place 5 players on the court
  • Coaches are not allowed on the court and must coach from their own sideline
  • Game begins with a jump ball
  • Rim height is 9ft
  • The official ball size 28.5″ but an adult-size ball may be used if both teams agree prior to tipoff
  • Teams bring their own game ball and warm-up balls
  • Teams warm up on the outside courts and must come prepared to start on time
  • Shots behind the 3pt line are counted as 3 points
  • Tournaments are typically played during the last two weeks of the season and vary depending on the number of teams in the division.
  • In the event of a tie during tournament and championship games, there will be a 2 minute overtime.
  • During regular season games, there is no overtime for ties. 
  • Home team will provide a parent to track fouls
  • Visiting team will provide a parent to keep score

  • Defenders may block shots
  • Defenders may steal a pass after it has left the passers hands 
  • Defending with the body and with arms extended straight up or out 
  • Body shadowing a ball carrier is accepted to prevent the ball carrier from dribbling toward the basket.

Fouls

  • A 1-for-2 foul shot will be implemented for fouls on shots (one foul shot worth 2 pts)
  • An And 1 will be awarded if a foul is committed on a shot and the shot is made. The foul shot will be one shot for one point.
  • 6 team fouls per half will result in  bonus for the other team

 

U12 (ages 10-11) & U14 (AGES 12-13)

General rules:

  • Games will be played full court with two 14 minute halves.
  • Each team will place 5 players on the court

  • Game begins with a jump ball
  • Rim height is 10ft
  • The official ball size 28.5″ but an adult-size ball may be used if both teams agree prior to tipoff
  • Teams bring their own game ball and warm-up balls
  • Teams warm up on the outside courts and must come prepared to start on time
  • A 1-for-2 foul shot will be implemented for fouls on shots (one foul shot worth 2 pts)
  • Referees may call an And 1 if a foul is committed on a shot and the shot is made. The foul shot will be one shot for one point.
  • Shots behind the 3pt line are counted as 3 points
  • Referees may call 3 seconds in the key when applicable
  • Ball handler has 10 seconds from inbound to cross the half court line
  • Tournaments are typically played during the last two weeks of the season and vary depending on the number of teams in the division.
  • In the event of a tie during tournament and championship games, there will be a 2 minute overtime.
  • During regular season games, there is no overtime for ties. 
  • Home team will provide a parent to track fouls
  • Visiting team will provide a parent to keep score

  • Deliberate physical contact to gain possession is prohibted - no elbowing, shoving or 'body checking' other players
  • A team must run and set up on defense after: 
    • Scoring a basket
    • Missing a basket and losing the rebound
  • Full-court defense, including swarm/trap presses, are only allowed in the last 2 minutes of each half. Half-court swarm/trap presses are allowed throughout the game.

Fouls

  • A 1-for-2 foul shot will be implemented for fouls on shots (one foul shot worth 2 pts)
  • Referees may call an And 1 if a foul is committed on a shot and the shot is made. The foul shot will be one shot for one point.
